Private Workshops

Private Instruction/Consultations are ideal for artists who are looking for an individualized experience. We will work one on one with you, at our Kingston, NY facility, to provide technical assistance with project development. 

R&F can offer a variety of subject matters through private instruction and your specific needs will be discussed with the Education Coordinator, some of the subjects that are most popular are:

Basic Encaustic
Basic Pigment Stick
Encaustic and Photography 
Encaustic and Paper
Monotype (Encaustic and Pigment Stick)
Sculptural wax
Mixed media and successfully combining materials

You can also speak with us over the phone at 1-800-206-8088. We work around our regular Upcoming Workshop schedule when planning the timing of one on one instruction, though we will do our best to support your needs and availability. Please allow for at least two weeks for planning which includes coordinating with our instructors and preparing the workspace.

Work time with the instructor is in four hour blocks that are scheduled in half day and full day increments. 

Half day (4 hours- flexible start): $220

Full day (7 hours- must begin by 9:30 ends at 4:30): $385

This pricing is for a single person, if you would like to bring a friend or studio assistant there is an additional fee of $50 per person.  

A non refundable deposit of $100 will be required to reserve your date with an instructor. 

Participants receiving private instruction will have the same level of studio access as all workshop students which includes the following equipment and materials: 

    • 16”x16” heated encaustic palettes 
    • Full line of Encaustic colors
    • Full line of Pigment Stick colors
    • Raw materials including medium and soy wax
    • Brushes
    • Variable temperature / speed heat guns 
    • R&F heated handle and tips
    • A variety of additional studio tools such as scissors, adhesives, cutting mats, rulers etc.


Specific additional class materials and recommendations will be discussed per the subject of your focus, these may need to be purchased or collected ahead of time if we have a limited selection of additional studio supplies.
