Exploring Your Visual Language with Pigment Sticks

Class Level: Intermediate-Advanced.

Registration for this class has been extended to Friday, April 14th.

In this workshop participants use R&F Pigment Sticks to create layered, expressive, richly surfaced paintings. We will be experimenting with a wide range of materials including: oil paint, cold wax, graphite, ink, and pan pastels. R&F Pigment Sticks allow the artist to draw or paint onto a surface with freedom and directness. In class Lisa highlights a variety of techniques, tools and exercises are used to explore personal imagery abstract as well as representational. Students will be encouraged to use alternatives to brushes for their mark making. Layering, excavating, edge, line, texture, mark making, color and the concept of “editing” will be addressed.  Working on multiple panels in a series liberates the creative spirit so that a personal language and vision can develop. Individual attention is given to each student, the beginner as well as the professional will get insightful feedback. Group discussions of contemporary art, professional and career support accompany this class. Click the title above to read more.
